Guests will be picked up from the resort and taken to the ferry in the harbor.



St George's fortress was the capital of Kefalonia until the end of the 17th century. The Byzantines began to build in the 12th century, but the Venetians gave the fortress its present appearance. It fits like a dunce cap on the mountain and the fortress was thus an almost impregnable position. St George's fortress should remain the capital of Kefalonia until the Napoleonic War. Rumors are that there will be tunnels, 5 km away Kastro in Argostli. However, these are eingestuerzt in the 1953 earthquake.



First stop is the monastery of St. Gerasimos, the island of saints. St Gerasimos was known for his miraculous abilities to heal people with mental illnesses. The monastery is famous for its pilgrimages in Kefalonia and is under the imposing mountain Ainos. Today the monastery is reconstructed and is an imposing building with a newly built church.



Next up we drive to the stunning Drogarati cave, which is located outside of Sami, with its delicate stalactites and stalagmites. Experts appreciate that the cave about 150 million years old. A natural balcony was created in 1953 by the earthquake,. From there, has a vision about my a space of 100 sqm. This allows concerts up to 500 people. (30 minutes stop)



Continue to see the Melissani cave. Discover by boat the caves stalactites which are over 20,000 years old. Because the hole in the Hoehlendecke impressive play of colors can be seen on the water and on the walls of the cave. There also some archaeological finds have been discovered on the sand bank of the lake. One of them is the figure of the nymph Melissanthē, after which the cave is named, another a clay figure of Pan. (30/40 min stop).



We stop for lunch in Aghia Efimia - before the earthquake of 1953 one of the most important trade cities of the island, with Herrenhaeusern, which were rebuilt after the earthquake, with the help of the French again. Today it is a beautiful city with a small harbor. You will have time for lunch or a walk. There is also a small beach, if you prefer to swim. After dinner, we head towards Myrtos Bay, one of the most famous beaches of Kefalonia, stop for a photo.



Finally, we visit Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. Here you can enjoy an ice cream or coffee, relax by the court, or the city before we discover the bus back to Fahere drive.
