This tour will bring you around the ever-popular Golden Circle, but at your own pace! Reykjavík Sightseeing’s unique Hop On / Hop Off tour of the Golden Circle allows you to decide where you´d like to stop and for how long. The tour takes 7,5 - 11,5 hours, depending on how much time you want to spend at any of the three locations; There are four departures from every stop on the route. Our first stop is the historic Þingvellir National Park, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the Viking settlers established their first national parliament in 930 AD. Here, the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet and are dramatically drifting apart. Iceland’s largest lake, Þingvallavatn, is also located within the park – a popular diving spot due to its pristine waters. The next stop is the Geysir geothermal area where the iconic geyser Strokkur, erupts every few minutes to the delight of onlookers. Our final stop is the grand Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most popular tourist attractions. Here, the powerful Hvítá glacial river cascades down 32 meters on two levels and into a deep canyon. A spectacular way to end the day.
