This 2 day tour covers two of Turkey’s most spectacular sights, combining Ephesus, home to the largest collection of Roman ruins in the eastern Mediterranean and one of the world’s best-preserved archaeological sites and the natural wonder that is Pamukkale (Cotton Castle).

After being picked up from the hotel early in the morning, there’s a short breakfast stop before heading on for Ephesus, set in the hills above the Aegean coast. With the help of the professional guide to invoke the history of this fascinating city, it is like stepping into a 2,000 year-old time warp. Wander marble-paved streets lined with fountains, temples and baths where mosaics and frescoes still decorate the walls of the ancient Roman houses. Saunter down the Arcadian Way that once served as the city’s main street towards the Great Theatre. Dug into a hillside, this 24,000-seater showcase once rang with the cries of gladiators and sermons of St. Paul. Visit the Library of Celsus where nearly 15,000 scrolls were once housed.

An open buffet lunch is enjoyed in the nearby town of Selcuk before moving on to a Gold centre for an opportunity to admire beautiful jewellery.

The tour leaves for Pamukkale driving through some typical Turkish towns and villages and open countryside, arriving the 4 star hotel. The evening begins with an open buffet dinner held on the hotel’s terrace with fantastic views of the calcium pools on the mountain side and entertainment is provided by a belly dancer around the pool bar.

Following breakfast on the second day, the tour leaves the hotel for a short visit to Hierapolis, once a Roman city, which has an impressive amphitheatre and large burial ground known as the necropolis and is located above Pamukkale’s terraces. The natural springs at the site have been used as a spa for thousands of years and the amazing landscape which forms Pamukkale was formed by calcium-filled springs pouring down the mountainside, its glacier-white ridges and pools resembling an Arctic wonderland. Approximately 3 hours free time is available for exploring this wonderful phenomenon which also includes the natural spring-filled Cleopatra’s pool; for an extra charge, there’s a wonderful opportunity to swim over fallen ancient columns and enjoy the warm, bubbly water. After lunch, the tour moves on to a leather factory before heading back for Bodrum, after a stop for refreshments on the way.
