Nativity scenes are an essential part of Italian Christmas tradition. At Christmas time, many different representations of the nativity are exhibited inside churches and places of worship, to delight kids and adults, during this magical period.


Take part to a fascinating Private walking tour that will give you the opportunity to discover the most important nativity scenes of Florence city center, surrounded by the magical Christmas atmosphere.


Led by a local professional guide, the tour will start from the imposing Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, stunning architectural jewel dominating the whole old town. Here, you will admire not one, but two nativity scenes: one on the Cathedral parvis, with life-size terracotta statues and one inside the church. Here you will be able to admire as well absolute masterpieces as Paolo Uccello’s Clock and be enthralled by the marvelous Vasari’s frescoes decorating the Dome - representing the Last Judgement - and the wonderful glass windows.


From here you will reach the marvelous Santa Croce Cathedral, stunning example of Italian Gothic style and pantheon of leading characters of Florentine and Italian history, such as Michelangelo, Leon Battista Alberti and Galileo Galilei. In the church are kept wonderful works of art by artists as Giotto, Donatello, Della Robbia and Lorenzo Ghiberti, among which the famous crucifix by Cimabue.


During the visit you will admire an original glass nativity and access to the charming fourteenth-century cloister, introducing to the Pazzi Chapel, wonderful masterpiece by Filippo Brunelleschi.


You will move then to the renowned Via del Corso, in the heart of the medieval district, where to have a pleasant stop at a historical Florentine Café to have a little rest and enjoy a delicious Espresso (or Tea or Hot Chocolate or Cappuccino).


After the rest, an additional stop in a historical church, where to appreciate another traditional nativity scene, will conclude this fascinating walking tour into Christmas magic.
