Delve deep into Munich’s great history and take a walking tour through the historic old town. There’s more to discover about Munich than its legendary Oktoberfest beer festival, and this tour will show you just that; taking you beyond appearances into over eight centuries of history.
At the medieval city wall, Karlstor, we begin our tour through Munich’s history and buildings. Your knowledgeable guide will regale you with the city’s history from its origins to the 20th century as we head from stop to stop. We pass St Michael’s Church, where the ‘Mad King’s’ remains are kept, to the emblematic Marienplatz: the beating heart of Munich in the centre of the Altstadt. Admire the New Town Hall, with its neo-gothic architecture and famous clock chime, the emblematic Frauenkirche dominating the skyline as well as the Feldherrnhalle, Bürgersaalkirche and the amazing Royal Residence; royal palace of Bavarian monarchs. We also discover Munich’s oldest church, St Peter’s, exploring the historic centre and the city’s hidden nooks and crannies. By the end of the tour, you’ll be closely acquainted with Munich and its history. Come and discover!
Meeting/pick-up point: Meeting point: For clients staying in Munich city center hotels meeting point will be the hotel reception.
For all the others the meeting point will be the Karlstor gate situated in Karlsplatz, Stachus. The guide will be dressed in green clothes.
