Discover a feat of engineering in a stunning alpine location. The Eagle’s Nest is perched high in the clouds at 6,017ft and its view and story are jaw-dropping.

HIGHLIGHTS:

* Private tour for complete convenience

* Ride on a lift through the heart of Kehlstein Mountain

* Admire the view from the top of Eagle’s nest

Taking the road from Obersalzberg, Adolf Hitler’s former home and southern headquarters, to the Eagle’s Nest is an experience in itself. Blasted out of solid rock in a record thirteen months, the road is a one of a kind and an impressive work of engineering that climbs up the Kehlstein Mountain towards the Eagle’s Nest car park.

The building itself was a project by Martin Bormann and presented to Adolf Hitler for his 50th birthday as a teahouse for diplomats. It escaped bombing during WWII and has since been open to the public as a restaurant and historical monument. The stunning views over the Berchstesgadener Land could almost make you forget the building’s start, but the building and brass-lined lifts that take you up through the heart of the mountain up into the restaurant, also serve as a stark reminder of the power of the National Socialist regime.
