Take a half-day to explore the countryside north of Wellington. Drive up the coast to the picturesque seaside resort of Plimmerton, and then continue on the coastal highway to the Nyco Chocolate Factory to taste gourmet delights, stop off at Lindale Farm for free Kapiti cheese samples, or try the original homemade ice cream and take optional farm walks (own cost).

Head to Southward Vintage Car Museum, where you'll see rarities including Marlene Dietrich's Cadillac and a Chicago gangster's armour-plated limo. Return to Wellington via the Paekakariki Hill summit for spectacular views of Kapiti Island and the South Island. Enjoy endless rural and coastal views.
