Location

The castle is located in the Royal Burgh of Tain, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. It is an ideal base from which to take advantage of the many activities on offer in the area, such as fishing in the loch, whisky tasting and dolphin and seal watching. The cities of Inverness and Dornach are less than an hour away. In Dornach there are numerous golf courses, such as the famous Dornach links.

Facilities

The hotel was built in 1902. 19 non-smoking rooms are available to guests. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. This is a good example of a Scottish country house castle. The castle is only 5 minutes from the centre of this picturesque Pictish town.The Town of Tain was formed in 1066 and became the Pictish capital of the Highlands. Mansfield and its sister Hotel Morangie were built around the 1880s by a tea plantation family; it is set in 3 acres of gardens but is also close to all amenities. Rooms are divided by mainly superior rooms in the Castle section and standard rooms are situated in the garden wing, which is connected to the castle by an inside walkway. The popular tower suite with its ghost, Mrs. Fowler and fantastic views around the area is the centrepiece of the castle. Standard rooms in the quiet garden wing are large, practical and all have power showers, trouser presses etc. This castle offers a full bar and restaurant menu with an excellent wine list.
