Location

Viana do Castelo, near the mouth of the River Lima, is the district capital of the region of Alto Minho in the northwest of Portugal. Viana is 75 km from Oporto by the motorway A28 and 28 km from Ponte de Lima. The border of Spain is just 30 km to the north at Caminha and the river Minho. Vigo, in Spain, is 98 km away by highway. Viana do Castelo is also accessible by train.
