Location

Covering 18 hectares, the island lies on the Tropic of Capricorn (23 degrees south of the equator), 72 km north-east off the coast of Gladstone, central Queensland. It is 534 km north of Brisbane and 1,183 km south of Cairns. Heron Island operates 1 hour ahead of Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) all year round. Gladstone Airport is approximately 72 km from the resort.

Facilities

The resort has a lift and features 109 rooms. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The resort has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. Hotel services and facilities include reception with limited opening hours ( spring /summer: 08.30 - 19.00 and autumn/winter 08.30 - 18.00), safety deposit box, restaurant, bar/lounge, outdoor swimming pool, conference room, internet kiosk ( extra charge), Wi-Fi internet access in lobby (extra charge), public telephone, terrace , spa, board games and resort boutique.
Guided reef walks, island ecology walks and wildlife presentations are being offered complimentary.

***Note: Heron Island is accessible by boat and helicopter from Gladstone. The boat departs Gladstone at 11:00 and departs the resort at 14:00 each day. The duration of the transfer is approximatly 2 hours. The resort runs a courtesy coach to pick guests up from the airport. Additional charges for transfers from Gladstone to Heron Island apply.
