Program details

Come and discover the magnificent Basaseachic Waterfall National Park with this full day tour from Chihuahua. You’ll find fragrant coniferous forests, deep gullies, raging torrents and the highest waterfall in Mexico. This natural paradise is hidden deep in the heart of the Tarahumara Mountain Range to the east of Chihuahua and makes for an ideal day’s escapade from the dust, hustle and bustle of the city.

The Basaseachic National Park is situated in the Copper Canyon Region of the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. The name Basaseachic in the Tarahumara language means place of the waterfall. You will not fail to be impressed by the stunning sight of two streams, the Arroyo del Durazno and the Arroyo de Basaseachic, cascading 246 metres down the canyon wall.

Apart from enjoying the spectacular views of the waterfall, you will have plenty of free time to explore the area for yourself. Take some memorable photographs of the falls from the different observation decks or go for a stroll around the extensive oak and coniferous forests nearby. The area is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including Mexican fox squirrel, wild boar, cougars and several varieties of snakes. You will also have the opportunity to spot some of the area’s rich birdlife including the iconic turkey vulture. Then you’ll have time to sit down and enjoy a delicious al fresco meal before returning to Chihuahua
