Program details

Hike through Chicaque Natural Park, just 30 minutes away from Bogota. Discover lush and abundant landscape that sets the scene for a trek through a magnificent Andean cloud forest with magnificent viewpoints along the way.

With this hike along a colonial path, the history of the area will come to life as with every step you take, you’ll be stepping where Iberian colonists and Indian Panches have stepped before. This ancient path cuts through the Andean cloud forest and links the Minga Land (savannah of Bogota) with the Magdalena Valley. Originally used by Indian Panches and Muiscas and later widened for horses by the Iberian colonists, it is the starting point for our hike, and the scenery that surrounds it will not disappoint. Built entirely of stone steps, the path splits into two through the Chicaque Natural Park: the upper and the lower. The lower path is the shortest to the Refuge which sits high above the trees affording glorious and commanding views over the forest. You’ll discover a natural park abundant in wildlife and natural beauty that is the perfect location to escape from the city and disconnect. With the help of your expert guide, you can get the most out of what Chicaque Natural Park has to offer, and you can be navigated through lush characterful landscape.

At the end of the hike, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel for mid-afternoon, with plenty of time to rest your feet before hitting the streets of Bogota!
