Program details

Hike among some of Europe's most beautiful scenery with one of a range of day hikes. There is a reason they call Gran Canaria a miniature continent, with its beautiful white sand beaches, lush green ravines, rocky mountains and picturesque villages. Whether you're a first time rambler or an experienced mountaineer, there's sure to be a hike to challenge you. Follow the old paths made by the ancient inhabitants of Gran Canaria to discover three different routes through this vibrant and beautiful landscape.

Monday hikes range from 6 to 13 km, all in the vicinity of the monolithic Roque Nublo, one of Gran Canaria’s most famous landmarks, atop one of the island's tallest mountains. This route takes intrepid hikers through three of Gran Canaria’s four climate zones, and visits a picturesque village in the green Tejeda valley.

Or head to the highest peak of the island, Pico de las Nieves, 1949m above sea level. Hikes here depart every Wednesday, taking in 6 to 13 km of the old path, Camino de la Plata. We end our day high above the clouds, where we like to pause and take in the spectacular views of Gran Canaria and the neighboring islands.

You can also explore the Mediterranean climate zone around the beautiful village of Santa Lucia, where the dramatic ravine of Guayadeque slices through the landscape. Hikes here depart every Friday taking in 7 to 14 km and reaching 1,400 m above sea level with stunning views over the east of the island. Investigate ancient caves that were once inhabited, some of which were carved out by hand.

With three great locations to choose from, you're sure to find your way to the beating heart of Gran Canaria.
