Standing more than 3,700 metres above sea level, this active volcano is a must-see when in Tenerife. The peak is the focal point of the Teide National Park, which is famed for its harsh and unforgiving landscapes that range in appearance from the Wild West to Siberia. The special climate, altitude and volcanic formations all add to this extreme experience.

Firstly, head up mighty Mount Teide, the snowcapped volcanic peak looming over the whole island. As you climb, pass through four different climate zones, which create an ever-changing kaleidoscope of terrains, flora and fauna. Plantations of semi-tropical fruit give way to fragrant pine and cedar forests before you reach a lunar landscape where the only inhabitants seem to be lava and rocks of all imaginable hues. The skies and atmospheric conditions here are among the best in the world for astronomical observation and the landscapes are simply breath-taking. Unusual rock formations of different hues of red, ochre and brown stand out starkly against a cobalt sky. And looming above them all is the impressive snowcapped peak of the Teide, the magical mountain of Tenerife.

Then, weather permitting, you can ride the cable car up to the summit for someunforgettable views over the whole of Tenerife and the rest of the Canary archipelago emerging from the misty Atlantic.

Start/opening time: 9am.
End/closing time: 5pm.

Others: For resident discount, you must bring valid ID. Cable cars every 10 minutes. Customers with children (up to 11 years inclusive) who purchase by web will be given a free copy of the "The Legend of Guayota" comic. The first 20 customers to arrive at the cable car with a return ticket will be offered a free audio guide (valid until April 30th 2016 - ask for availability at the box office).On arrival at the ticket office, please identify yourself with your full name to receive an audio guide/comic book.
