Program details

Discover the beautiful hillside city of Carmona on this tour from Seville that takes you to one of Andalucia’s most picturesque towns. Look out over the rolling hills and plains of southern Spain as you are guided round Carmona’s many historic monuments and landmarks. Stroll through the charming narrow streets to the convent of “La Madre de Dios” and “Las Descalzas” and learn about the many conquering forces that occupied Carmona and contributed to the settlement’s rich history.

Head out of the busy streets of Seville and ascend the hills of the Sierra Morena, taking in the stunning views on the way. Arrive at Carmona, located strategically on a ridge with panoramic views to enable the townspeople to spot any approaching enemy forces far in advance. Your local guide will explain the fascinating history of Carmona, held at various times by Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths, Muslims and Christians. This long list of conquerors has contributed to a rich diversity of culture and architecture within the city walls and the result is a stunningly pretty town.

The tour includes entrance to the convent of La Madre de Dios and Las Descalzas, two exceptional examples of Carmona’s beautiful architecture with equally intricate interiors. End the tour by climbing to Carmona’s Parador to take in the unforgettable 360 degree views of the Andalucian countryside before heading back to Seville with a stop for coffee and refreshments.
