Observation and Swimming with Whale Sharks

Informazioni generali

Destinazione
La Paz, Messico

Il programma nel dettaglio

After being picked up at your hotel you'll be getting on the boat at La Paz' downtown pier. A short boat ride, generally around 30 min., takes you to the shallow waters off the Mogote peninsula where the whale sharks gather to feed on plankton. The Whale Shark is completely harmless to humans since it is a slow swimming filter feeder. Being mostly pelagic, seasonal coastal aggregations occur at only very few places worldwide where it is possible to get a close look at the world’s largest fish in its natural habitat.

Mexico has the fortune to have three of those spots, two of which are located in Baja California and now you have the privilege of marveling at these gentle giants right here in La Paz. Your boat will be maneuvered to a fairly close range of one or several sharks and you may get in the water and snorkel over to them. Nevertheless, if you prefer to rather stay on the boat, the whale shark may also be observed well from the boat.
