Il programma nel dettaglio

Discover the beautiful city of Aix-en-Provence with this full-day tour highlighting the best the city has to offer. You’ll enjoy the magnificent Cours Mirabeau, take a stroll through one of the city centre markets and visit the studio of the renowned impressionist painter, Paul Cezanne.

Walk with your guide on the Cours Mirabeau lined with a double row of large plane trees which form a tunnel of greenery. The exclusive street is home to grand and elaborate 17th and 18th century private mansions. On hot summer days you will appreciate the glorious shade afforded by the trees and the many cooling fountains that you will see along the way. The Cours Mirabeau divides the city in two, with the old town to the north with its old and irregular streets while the new city or the Quartier Mazarin extends to the south and west. The old town is packed with shops, architectural and religious sites and bustling squares. Take a stroll through one of the numerous markets taking place every day in the centre of the city.

Aix is also the birthplace of the painter Paul Cezanne, who is considered one of the most influential artists of his era and is said to form the bridge between late 19th-century Impressionism and the early 20th century's new line of artistic form, cubism. Both Matisse and Picasso are said to have remarked that Cézanne ‘is the father of us all’. This is an unmissable opportunity to visit the artist’s studio, which was built from his own plans and where time seems to have stood still.
