The first leg of this sensory voyage begins with a scenic coastal drive over wetlands from Maceio to Barra de Sao Miguel. On arrival, board the schooner and sail out through the magnificent Lagoa do Roteiro, the estuary that separates Sao Miguel from Gunga beach (boat fee not included and must be paid locally).



After the atmospheric cruise, land at the earthly paradise of Gunga beach and begin a new phase of fun. Gunga is renowned for its soft white sands, warm turquoise waters, lush coconut groves and extraordinary beauty – so much so that it has been voted one of Brazil’s 10 most beautiful beaches by a popular guidebook. The area boasts plenty of secluded coves, bays and strands. The beach is divided into two by coral reefs, with wilder waters beyond these. A dramatic effect is created by the cliffs that frame the beach.



There are a number of facilities on the beach as bars and restaurants compete with vendors to provide the coolest drinks and tastiest fish and shellfish. Among the optional activities available are surfing, windsurfing and jet-ski hire. Boat tours also offer to take you around the reefs so that you can see the abundant marine life of Gunga beach.
