Il programma nel dettaglio

Drive south of Trujillo to visit a religious center of the Mochica culture, built in the fifth century. Admire the temples of the Sun and the Moon that constituted the center of the ancient Moche culture, which developed between 100 AD and 900 AD. Both huacas are separated by 500 meters, where the urban center that housed the Moche elite is still preserved underground.

The archeological complex includes two large pyramids, the Huaca Las Estrellas, Huaca del Cerro Blanco, the Spider geoglyph and other buildings. Also visit the workshop of a traditional artisan Moche family. Continue with the visit of Huaca Dragon, also known as Huaca Arco Iris, belonging to the Chimu culture and located at the north of the city of Trujillo. This is a great religious monument and ceremonial and administrative center, built in adobe, whose murals are decorated with friezes, showing human figures and representing a stylized rainbow.

Enjoy a delicious lunch at a typical restaurant, before proceeding with the visit to the archaeological complex of Chan Chan, the largest adobe city in America and also the largest of the Chimu culture, with an area of 20 km2 approximately. Its central area is formed by a group of 10 walled towns (called "citadels") and other solitary pyramids.

The rest consists of numerous small structures, sidewalks, canals, walls and cemeteries. Proceed then to Huanchaco, an ancient fishing village where you can see the old boats called "Caballitos de Totora" with which millenary tradition of artisanal fishing is kept. After the visit, transfer to the hotel.
