Come and visit the newly transformed New England Aquarium, right in the heart of downtown Boston, and be enchanted by its stunning collection of marine life. Featuring a spectacular new Caribbean coral reef teeming with more than 2,000 animals, a bustling penguin colony and an unforgettable giant sea turtle exhibit, New England Aquarium is sure to enthrall and delight the whole family. Hosting New England’s biggest screen, the aquarium’s Simons Theatre will also take your breath away as incredible underwater journeys come to life in front of your eyes.



Immerse yourself in a world of exotic tropical species and colourful fish as you explore New England’s very own slice of the Caribbean at the newly constructed coral reef exhibit. Spot the numerous sea turtles, eels, stingrays and fish that call this environment, with its carefully controlled warm water, their home. Holding over 200,000 gallons of saltwater, the engineering required to bring this exhibit to life is almost as impressive as the stunning sealife which dwell within.



Head to further exhibits and marvel at the size and grace of massive sea turtles, be enchanted by the playful seals and run your fingertips over the smooth skin of a cownose ray. Be sure to check out New England’s biggest screen at the on-site Simons theatre. Watch as the world is brought to life in front of your eyes on a screen the size of a six story building. This experience is invaluable when it comes to witnessing animals and habitats that are too large, too small or too endangered to exhibit in an aquarium setting.



Featured Exhibits

• Indo-Pacific Coral Reef Exhibit – The new exhibit features a 9,000-gallon, floor-to-ceiling, concave tank, encompassing one’s field of vision and accentuating the biological richness of this Indo-Pacific coral reef community


• Shark and Ray Touch Tank – The Trust Family Foundation Shark and Ray Touch Tank features sharks and rays in a mangrove-themed tank surrounded by shallow edges and viewing windows, allowing visitors to experience an exceptionally close encounter


• Giant Ocean Tank – Enjoy 360-degree views around a spectacular, four-story Caribbean coral reef teeming with hundreds of animals and more than 120 different species.


• New Balance Foundation Marine Mammal Center – The seals and se lions are always at play! Watch California sea lions dart through the water and limber norther fur seals frolic in this beautiful open-air exhibit space.


• Penguin Colony – The Aquarium is home to more than 60 penguins living in the bustling penguin colony surrounding the Giant Ocean Tank. Watch them swim, eat, preen, and bray!
