Il programma nel dettaglio

Join the exciting experience of visiting mainland Europe’s only active volcano, the Vesuvius, which looms ominously over the Bay of Naples. This natural monster, located nine kilometres away from the beautiful city of Naples, is mostly remember for its eruption in 1979, which scorched and buried the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Although the tour more than guarantees a safe visit, it is still a hair rising experience; this mount is considered one of the world’s most frightening volcanoes.

To begin your tour, you will be driven past the ancient original crater and up to an estimated 900 metres. Traverse the last stretch of the route on foot up a zigzagging path, feeling the crunch of the volcanic gravel under the soles of your shoes. Once you reach the top of the hill, meander a while around the crater. Take a peek inside its yawning mouth and contemplate the breath-taking beauty of the bay.

Once this part of the trip is over with and your adrenalin levels are back to normal, make a stop at Vico Equense, where you visit the highly interesting Mineralogical Museum. Inside it there is an astounding collection of more than 200 different types of vesuvian minerals – stunning colourful creations born from lava and chaos. That, though, is not the full extent of the exhibition; the museum also contains an amazing collection of thousands of minerals from all the most exotic corners of the globe.
