Il programma nel dettaglio

See Cartagena from the vantage point offered by the sleek and modern panoramic lift at Calle Gisbert. Enjoy breathtaking views from the top of a mountain of standout landmarks such as the bullring, churches, castles, forts and many of the city’s most famous buildings.

The panoramic lift was built at the beginning of the millennium as part of an ambitious urban regeneration scheme and has surpassed all expectations by opening up a part of the city to visitors, who in turn have brought cultural, social and economic development. The idea was to link the street and the Castle of the Conception on top of a mountain through the 45 metre (150ft) tall lift shaft but the works helped uncover a series of large galleries inside the mountain that had served as shelters during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s.

Among the panoramic views from the lift are the Military Hospital, Autopsy Pavilion and Antigone Barracks, which date from the 18th century and are now part of the university. See also the bullring, built in the 1850s over a first century Roman amphitheatre, the Moorish Castle and St Julian’s Castle, which protected the port, and the Church of Charity. There are also a series of outstanding modern buildings on view such as the House of the Student and the Auditorium.

Open every day from July 1 to September 16 between 10am and 2.30pm, and from 4pm to 8.30pm. During the off-season times range from 10am to 5.30pm or 7pm, opening from Tuesday to Sunday.
