Il programma nel dettaglio

Explore the picturesque countryside north of Copenhagen and its fairytale castles. This day trip will take you to the castle where the Hamlet lived and the stunning Frederiksborg Castle in the picturesque town of Hillerod. Come along for a fascinating experience – and don’t forget your camera. The Kronborg and Frederiksborg Castle combination is available together only with the Castle Tour ticket.

Depart the capital for Helsingor, Shakespeare’s Elsinore, and travel up the Riviera road, enjoying beautiful views of the Oresund Strait with the Swedish coast in the horizon. At Elsinore enter and experience the impressive Kronborg Castle, the setting of Shakespeare´s Hamlet. It was built between 1574 and 1585 to protect Danish interests and to collect tolls from ships passing through the narrow 4km-wide strait that separates the island of Zealand from Sweden. The castle has the longest banqueting hall and ballroom in northern Europe and is protected by a diamond-shaped moat and a four-pointed star-shaped defensive wall. After Kronborg, continue to the royal family’s spring and autumn residence, Fredensborg Castle, which was built in the Dutch baroque style. Pause here to take advantage of this wonderful photo opportunity.

Just a few minutes’ drive down the road from Fredensborg is the magnificent Frederiksborg Castle, which dominates the picture-postcard town of Hillerod. Visit the National History Museum’s royal art collection and awe-inspiring Chapel of Orders, which has a Dutch Renaissance exterior and a baroque rococo interior. The Italian-inspired baroque gardens have been recreated from 18th century designs.
