Il programma nel dettaglio

Bring your binoculars as they'll be plenty to spot on this thrilling day trip to Poás Volcano National Park from San José. Discover the secrets of Costa Rican coffee, enter the mysterious cloud forest, discover a mighty volcano and hike to a blue lagoon on this wonderful nature experience.

Take the Pan-American Highway towards the city of Alajuela. En route you can see the Agriculture Monument, the Juan Santamaria Monument and the famous Mango Park, named for the shady fruit-bearing trees that grow there. Next, travel through the coffee plantations and head to the otherworldly Poás Volcano National Park in the Central Volcanic Mountain Range. Stop for a brief explanation of golden bean coffee on your way up the slopes. Continue through ferns, flowers and strawberry farms until the climate and vegetation give way to the atmospheric habitat of the cloud forest, where jaguars hunt spider monkeys in the thick canopy. Discover two ice-blue crater lakes and the sulphur fumaroles at the summit of this mighty volcano.

Then hit the trail and take a hike to beautiful Botos Lagoon. Among the lush vegetation, colourful butterflies and hummingbirds and tropical frogs that live in this magical location, you will learn about the different fragile ecosystems in the Poás Volcano National Park, the flora and fauna, and the effects of the volcano.
