The Humpback Whales Sanctuary and the whales of Samana are well known in the world of marine biology and among the locals, as each year three to five thousand of these fantastic mammals return to Bahia de Samana and adjacent waters to give birth to their young and mate for the following year. If you have little understanding of this large and majestic creature before coming, you will leave full of both knowledge and wonder as you learn from the experienced guides and workers of the sanctuary. If you visit sometime from January through to March, you may get the pleasant opportunity to observe the whales playing and singing, truly a remarkable sight. This fantastic nature exhibition is truly one of those once in a lifetime experiences that you will not want to miss.
