Take a step back in time and explore the temperate cloud forest of El Cuba de La Galga, surely one of the most exotic environments on La Palma. Stroll through dense laurel and giant fern forests, perhaps the most lovely and spectacular in the entire Canary Islands whose origins date back to the Tertiary Era, a time when the earth enjoyed a fertile tropical climate. You'll enjoy spectacular views as you learn about this precious and unique eco-system.

After reaching La Somada Alta, a lookout point located 900 meters above sea level, we'll stop to admire the superb views of the verdant north-east area of the island. Now step by step we'll make our descent into the very heart of the Enchanted Forest, a pre-historic jungle bursting with leafy vegetation, majestic ferns hanging from the damp cliffs, while lianas knit their networks through the tree tops, and a myriad beautiful plants and flowers fill every tiny corner of the forest.

After a while we'll emerge into a series of clearings where the local farmers grow their crops in the traditional way on terraces cut with backbreaking labour from the hillsides. Small houses start to dot the landscape, and we can enjoy watching the locals as they go about their day to day life, working hard at their daily chores.

The main part of this trek terminates at the charming village of San Bartolo with breathtaking views over the northern ravines. If you wish to continue the road goes on to the spectacular La Galga ravine with great views over the east coast of the island.
