Adolf Hitler fantasised of transforming Berlin into the Welthauptstadt Germania (World Capital Germania) which would be the epicentre of his thousand-year Reich… but that empire was to last no more than 12 years and by the end, both his capital and totalitarian vision lay in ruins. From the ashes of the Third Reich a new Berlin has risen but scratch beneath the surface and remnants of this dark chapter can be found as this powerful and emotional guided tour reveals.

Explore the former Jewish quarter, see the location of Nazi bunkers, air raid shelter, anti-aircraft installations, war-damaged buildings, resistance monuments such as Operation Valkyrie, WWII battlefields and learn about the plans drawn up by Hitler’s favourite architect, Albert Speer, to build this monumental imperial capital.

The guide will explain how conditions in Germany were such that a psychopath like Adolf Hitler was able to rise to power and carry out the most unimaginable crimes. You will hear of the grim fate of his victims and what life was like in wartime Berlin. Visit the Willhelmstrasse, where notorious Nazi ministries were located, the site of the former Chancellery and Hitler’s bunker, the courtyard where some of the conspirators of the July 20 plot to kill Hitler were executed and also the spot where the dictator took his own life.

The tour will also show where Jewish businesses were destroyed during the notorious Night of Broken Glass and also where the embassies of Germany’s Axis partners, Italy and Japan, are located.
