Originally an apothecary, Skjaldbreið occupies one of the city's most impressive buildings. It was our first hotel and it still can't be beaten for charm. Small in size with only 33 rooms, the hotel makes every guest feel like family. Right in the middle of the city's main street, the location also makes Skjaldbreið a tough one to top.

This hotel is located right in the centre of Reykjavik on one of the main shopping streets..The rooms vary in size due to this traditional building's age, but on average they are around 16 square metres.They are in very good condition, with mostly neutral colour schemes offset by floral pattern soft furnishings. Occasionally the rooms can be a little noisy on the weekends due the location.The restaurant is well known locally and a great spot for an aperitif or an afternoon coffee..This is a traditional building with a white and pale grey facade. It stands out amongst its rather more functional neighbours.The lobby is on the first floor.This hotel comes very highly recommended for discerning individual travellers..This hotel is non-smoking. Half Board guests will dine at either SKÝ Restaurant and Bar, located on the top floor of CenterHotel Arnarhvoll, Ísafold Restaurant located at CenterHotel Thingholt or Jörgensen Kitchen and Bar located in Centerhotel Midgardur.
