Program details

Discover southern Vietnam on this full-day Mekong River Delta Tour. Nicknamed the ‘rice bowl of Vietnam’, the Mekong River Delta is a flatland stretching from Ho Chi Minh’s southwest to the Gulf of Thailand. Orchards, paddy fields, and swamplands make up the rustic landscape of this verdant region, which is well worth exploring as an escape from Saigon’s street scenes.

We’ll start the trip with an early pick-up from your accommodations before heading to our first stop of the day Cai Be Floating Market. It is one of the largest and busiest floating markets in the area, with numerous boats filled with local produce and other wares. This is the perfect place to observe the locals, discover the delicious produce, and buy a morning snack or two.

Next, we’ll head to Bỏng Cốm and visit a local family and watch as they prepare some traditional Vietnamese snacks for us to try. After whetting our appetites, we’ll board a boat and head to Tan Phong Island, one of the more well-known islands in the Mekong Delta. Tan Phong is especially popular for its fruit orchards, aquaculture, and fishing.

We’ll stop for a delicious lunch in one of the local restaurants (not included) before we get on some bikes to explore the island. (No need to worry about much traffic here!) We’ll visit another family who specializes in producing local handicrafts and learn about how they make a living and live their daily lives. After cycling around, we’ll head to a local fruit farm and sample some local fruits in season and even listen to some traditional music before departing for Ho Chi Minh and heading back to your accommodations.
