On this 2 hours walking tour, our expert local guide will introduce you to the ancient history and modern-day
local culture and tradition of Naxos, by taking you to some of the most important and impressive sights in Chora.
With the heart of Naxos' Chora as your meeting point, take a stroll inside the walls of
the medieval castle and listen to stories of pirates and knights - learn why Venetian aristocracy always held an important position on the island. Check out the historical, medieval Roman Cathedral and admire its exquisite architecture. Do not miss the chance to witness from up close a rare Byzantine icon that is almost 1000 years old!
Continue your walk in
the old city of Naxos and travel back in time by entering an archaeological excavation inside the city, with findings that cover the span of the Mycenaean times until today. Wander around the excavation through alleys and bridges and experience first-hand an ancient cemetery, among others.
Before heading to dinner in a local restaurant (not included) with
traditional dishes of Naxos, enjoy the magical Cycladic sunset and watch the sun dive into the Aegean Sea from the small island of Palatia, where the iconic Portara stands!
