Program details

The Zaragoza Fluvial Aquarium, one of the three thematic pavilions of the Zaragoza 2008 International Exhibition, is the largest in Europe and one of the largest in the world. It has 8,000 m2 built, of which 3,400 m2 are for exhibitions.

In its 70 fish tanks are housed more than 5000 animals of more than 350 different species of river fauna characteristic of each of the five rivers represented: the Nile, Mekong, Amazon, Murray-Darling, and the Ebro. The building has different bodies where the central space represents the glaciers that are the origin of every river, true water stores that feed it with the thaw; the large freshwater tank that crosses its interior from part to part symbolizes the original water, the "Great World River".

The volumes that make up the exhibition space are the various parts of the land that, fertilized by rivers, germinates in an exhibition of diversity.

On its sides are the quadrangular naves that house the exhibition spaces dedicated to the Nile, Mekong, Amazon, Murray-Darling, and the Ebro rivers.
