Program details
After leaving Amsterdam, you can enjoy a comfortable coach ride as you make your way to your first stop, Zaanse Schans. Located on the banks of the River Zaan, you will visit a true open-air museum, a traditional village where you will find windmills and beautiful houses from times gone by. Head inside a mill and learn first-hand about the uses, operations, and different types of windmills before you can enjoy some free time.
After a short rest, you will get to enjoy a tour of Edam, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its international fame is thanks to its famous cheese market, which is still open during the summer months. Explore the historic center with your guide and appreciate the pure essence of Dutch culture with several stops in some of the most interesting places to see.
As you journey on to Volendam, you will make a stop local farm where you will get the chance to watch the traditional way Gouda cheese is made, and you will even get to sample the many varieties!
At lunchtime, you will arrive at the final stop, the quaint port city of Volendam, where you will have some free time to meander through its labyrinth of narrow streets and canals whilst admiring its striking wooden houses. As you´re here you can enjoy some of the local delicacies from the street vendors and numerous restaurants - there is something for everyone. If you are a fish lover, you will be impressed with the exquisite fish from the area.
