Program details

Not soon after being picked up from your hotel will you be waving goodbye to Malta as you embark on the twenty-minute crossing (approx.) to the magnificent island of Gozo. As soon as you set foot on the island you will note that although both islands are similar in history and development, Gozo has a character entirely of its own, most notably, greener.

During the tour, you will visit some of the island's most popular landmarks. First see The National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta Pinu, a Roman Catholic minor basilica and a national shrine located just 700 metres from the village of Gharb. A visit to the Crafts Centre is a must, where you will see stone works, marble, traditional food and local lace.

Continue as you head to the island's capital, Victoria, named in 1897 by the British government on the occasion of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. The surrounding area around Victoria, located near the centre of the island has been settled since Neolithic times. Take the trackless train to the centre of Victoria, The Cittadella, a historic fortified city. The Cittadella, also known as "The Citadel", is on Malta's tentative list of future World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, who describes it as a small fortified town. Located in the heart of the city is an old prison and the Courts of Justice.

Afterwards, stop for lunch at a restaurant in Rabat before taking the scenic drive to Mgarr Port via Qala Belvedere where you will be rewarded by breathtaking scenery. Finish the tour as you make the short ferry crossing back to Malta, before dropped-off at your hotel.
