On arrival at Lagoinha beach, behold the beauty of this crescent-shaped natural bay that has been blessed by the gods. Back in the day, pirates who roamed the Caribbean would wind down here, which goes to show that they had an eye for more than just booty! Today, Lagoinha is a quite fishermen’s colony and the heady stuff of yesteryear has long given way to more leisurely pursuits such as sunbathing, swimming and beach volley.



There are many activities available at the Lagoinha. Lounge in one of the bars and restaurant, nursing a cool, refreshing drink of coconut water and munching on seafood while watching the waves gently roll in. Explore the palm tree-lined beaches and sand dunes by foot or on optional buggy tours or horse rides. Other options include sailboat cruises to the Almecegas Lagoon, which is formed by a sandbar, and rides on pau-de-arara (a type of open truck used by agricultural workers).
