Having quite the captivating history, the geologic change that gave birth to the Iguazu Waterfalls took place nearly 150 million years ago. With a quake that shook the earth's crust clear around the globe, a gigantic canyon formed at the Iguassu region. This canyon, full of rock steps and outcroppings through which the grand Iguazu River flows, led to the magnificent creation of the falls. With an average flow of 10 million liters per second, the sheer velocity of the cascading water creates a huge mist cloud and roars with a deafening sound. Marvel at the biggest waterfall of them all, the 'Devil's Throat', which is a massive 90 meters high. During the rainy season, the stream of the Iguassu River increases and displays an even more wondrous spectacle.
