The one and a half hour journey to Lake Bafa passes lovely natural scenery of steep hillsides covered in olive groves. The tour stops on the way at the ancient site of Euromos to look at the well preserved Zeus Temple which nestles at the base of a hill not far from the road. Standing alone, this temple is one of the best preserved classical temples in the country, having sixteen columns still standing.

After Euromos, the tour moves on to Herakleia the remains of which are scattered amongst the present-day village houses by the lakeside. This is a rustic spot overlooked by Mt Latmos with donkeys and hens running around and women dressed in the traditional clothes worn in the Turkish countryside.
