The Forgotten Mine

General information

Destination
Lasko, Slovenia

Program details

The remnants of an old lead and silver mine in the village Padež show that the Laško area was rich in mines. Padež is a small village in the hills south of Borovnica in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. In the Polhova jama pit, the ore was probably mined in the time of Maria Theresa. The preserved mine shafts unfold stories about the life and work of miners in the past.

The tour includes guidance, a viewing of the mine shaft and a tasting of homemade food. On the way to Padež, there is an underpass with a 3.30 meter height limit.
