Program details

Put on your dancing shoes and join the locals for one of Spain's craziest fiestas, the Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria! It's a riot of colour, noise and fun and it also happens to be one of the oldest and most unique traditional festivals of the capital of the Canary Islands. The celebrations have been going on for over five centuries, with special traditions of elaborate masquerade, naughty pranks and plenty of flesh on display.

Join the throngs to witness the Gran Cabalgata parade, where the Carnival Queen leads over 200,000 costumed revellers, decked out in their finest feathers and spangles. Watch 100 floats pass by, each more colourful than the next with glittering decorations, streamers and papier-mâché figures, and of course, the batucada rhythm never stops! Drinks flow freely and you'll find it hard to resist the infectious rhythm of Carnival, so just go with the flow and be swept along by the crowd.

Follow the carnival parade as it zigzags through the city in the gorgeous Gran Canarian sunshine, and get into the spirit of fun, freedom and transgression. The stunning cars and floats that past by will leave you speechless as they vie to catch the eye of the judges, who have the tough job of choosing the most fabulous one. The Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a celebration of the rhythm of life that’s bound to intoxicate and enchant you.
