Program details

Milan is home to some of Leonardo da Vinci's greatest masterpieces and in this afternoon tour you'll have the opportunity to admire three of his best known works: the painted ceilings at the Sala delle Asse in Sforza Castle, the Atlantic Codex Exhibition at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and an exclusive viewing of the Last Supper at the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie.

The tour starts outside the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana where we'll visit the temporary exhibition of the Atlantic Codex. This is an impressive collection of scientific drawings and writings by Leonardo dating from 1478 to 1519, the largest of its kind in the world. Then we'll visit the amazing painted ceilings at the Sala delle Asse in the nearby Sforza castle with their intricate plant motifs. However the highlight of this tour has to be Leonardo's masterpiece the Last Supper, one of the most famous paintings in the world, housed in the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. The painting, dating from the 1490s was severely deteriorated over time and has only very recently undergone a painstaking 21-year restoration, revealing the original colours and details of this masterpiece. Whether you're an art lover or a reader of Dan Brown this delicately restored wall fresco never fails to impress.
