Program details

Featuring a host of lakes, lagoons, waterfalls, rivers, forests, mountains and glaciers, the Tierra del Fuego National Park can boast some of the most dramatic natural scenery of this or any other part of the world.

The tour departs from the regional capital, Ushuaia, and heads south-west in the direction of the park, which is conveniently located only 11 km away. On the way out of the city the route passes by the slopes of Monte Susana where the work of the prisoners of a former penal colony can be seen. This is the start of the Southern Fuegian Railway and there is a stop here for an optional tour. Passing through a visually stunning valley the tour continues to Ensenada Bay with its breathtaking views of the Redonda and Estorbo Islands and, on the other side of the Beagle Channel, the snow-capped mountains of the Sampaio Chain, on the Chilean side of the border.

Returning to the main highway, the excursion passes through indigenous forest habitats with a wealth of flora and fauna visible from the road, before reaching Roca Lake, where there is a chance to walk along the beautiful Lapataia River. Heading for the other end of the park the tour passes the Green and Black Lagoons, via some spectacular beaver dams, before finally arriving at the end of the highway in Lapataia Bay.

The tour does not include the National Park entrance fee, which has to be paid directly upon entering the park.
