A range of optional extras are available such as scuba diving, helmet diving, boat snorkel tours, or the hire of canoes and beach lounge chairs.

Green Island is a cay (a sandy island on a coral reef) about 27 kilometres from Cairns. The island is bordered by a coral reef and protected within the Green Island National Park. Most people visit for a one day; however there is a luxury resort. The island formation can be accounted to approximately 6,000 years ago by accumulation of sand and other debris onto the coral.
A variety of vegetation covers the island today and the only source of water is the rain as well as a small freshwater lens under the island. Aboriginal people call the island Dabuukji (the place of the hole in the nose) and according to them, in the past, the island's size was approximately four times bigger.
