Learn some farm skills in rural Egypt, just outside Sharm el-Sheikh Get to know local life on a farm in Egypt Chat with your local hosts and get to know life in the desert. Enjoy an a traditional Egyptian lunch and get involved in some bread-making Explore Egypt on a day out in the desert.

Wave goodbye to the resorts of Sharm el-Sheikh and go from urban to rural on this Egypt tour that takes you out to the desert plains and farming lands of this beautiful country. We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Sharm el-Sheikh, then drive for around 1.5 hours until we reach Wadi Murrah, the entrance to the desert. Here you’ll meet a local farmer, our host for the day. You’ll be greeted with some refreshing Bedouin tea, and given an introduction into the local farm project and the kinds of ways in which you can help out.

After you’ve learnt what the farm’s all about, it’s time to get your hands dirty! We won’t be asking too much of you, don’t worry – your local farm host will get you started on a few bits and bobs that will really them with their project. It could be putting fences up or getting to some planting, but whatever it is your hosts will be more than happy to take suggestions. You and your group can work together to help out for the day, learning from each other and your farming host.

You’ll definitely deserve some lunch after that hard work! Your local host will cook up a fresh lunch made from farm produce, all cooked in the traditional way over an open fire. As well as picking up farm tips, this will be your opportunity to pick up some Egyptian food tips as well. Learn how to make fresh bread just like the locals do, and bake it to perfection under hot coals.

After lunch, we’ll continue this Egypt tour by taking a short trek into the surrounding area, where we’ll learn about the indigenous herbs grown in the desert plain, and how they’re used to treat people for illnesses. This will give you even more information on how Egyptians have lived off the land for centuries, a far cry from the resort living you find in the centre of Sharm el Sheikh! Towards the end of this Egypt tour, we’ll head back to the farm for a last cup of tea with our hosts, say our goodbyes, and head back to Sharm el-Sheikh. We’ll drop you back off at your hotel, where you can rest up after your day on the farm!
