It's also a paradise for sunworshippers with some of the best beaches in the Med. Catch a modern ferry from the port of Ibiza across to La Sabina, Formentera's sleepy capital and return whenever you feel like - there are plenty of crossings to choose from.

Formentera is the smallest inhabited island in the Balearics. You'll find dazzlingly whitewashed sugar cube houses, unspoilt sandy beaches and unbelievably crystal clear waters. The whole island seems virtually untouched by the modern world - you'll find few cars and no high rise buildings. It is like travelling back in time to the Mediterranean that existed before mass tourism. Visit some of the beautiful beaches at Es Cavall d'en Borras, Es Caló, Illetes, Es Pujols, Migjorn and s'Arenal as well as the islet of s’Espalmador.
