Program details

See Salzburg high and low with this fascinating combination that includes the popular Mozart tour and a visit to the imposing Hohensalzburg Castle. The Mozart tour allows you to discover the city locations most closely associated with its most famous son while the views from the castle atop a mountain overlooking the city and the Salzach River valley are simply breathtaking.

The Mozart tour begins at the Mirabell Palace, which along with its beautifully landscaped gardens is a Unesco World Heritage Site. Pass the Mozarteum music academy and the Marionette Theatre. Continue to the Markart Square and see the State Theatre, the beautiful baroque Trinity Church and Mozart’s former home.

Follow the river to the Hellbrunn Palace for a brief photo stop. The gardens and fountains are simply gorgeous. On the way back to the city centre, pass Frohnburg Castle (which was the Von Trapp family home in the Sound of Music) and Nonnberg Abbey. Re-enter the old city through the Sigmund Gate, pass the Great Festival Hall and Old University, the famous Horse Pond, and the Getreidegasse shopping street as well as the ancient St Blasius Church. The tour finishes at Mozart Square, where a statue honours the great man.

Hohensalzburg Castle is accessed via a funicular rail, which is also included. A fortress has stood for almost 1,000 years on this site at the summit of the 542 metre-high Festungsberg mountain. Enjoy stunning panoramic views and discover the Golden Hall and Golden Chamber as well as the military museum.
