Program details

Witness nature at its beautiful best with our Humpback Whales Sanctuary tour! Each year, between 3,000 and 5,000 Humpback whales return to the Bay of Samana and its adjacent waters to mate and give birth. From January until March, these majestic mammals make their regular journey through these waters where they can be observed as they play and sing. Keep an eye out and might catch a glimpse of a rising tail, a waving flipper or even see a whale breach the water’s surface! Come and be part of this fantastic natural exhibition from the safety of our tour boats, in what is undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking displays you can witness on your visit to the Dominican Republic!

Meeting at the hotel reception, the half-day Humpback Whale Sanctuary tour departs at 9:30am. The tour includes ground transportation and an informative tour guide who can speak to you in Spanish, English, French, Italian or Russian. Remember to bring sunscreen, a camera to capture once-in-a-lifetime wildlife snaps of these giants of the deep. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, and bring a little extra money for any souvenirs you might desire, and tips you want to give along the way.

A good level of physical fitness is required as we encounter the elements on this adventurous tour! It is not suitable for people with severe physical or motor handicap or physical activity, or for pregnant women. People under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted.
