There's also plenty to keep outdoors types busy, with kayaking, stand-up paddling, boogie boarding, snorkelling and a number of other water sports on offer, ranging from the sedate to the hair-raising. At Kailua, why not rent a kayak and paddle out to the Mokulua Islands? It’s a protected bird sanctuary with a gorgeous beach of its own making it the perfect spot for a picnic lunch.

Lanikai Beach is another gem, with turquoise blue waters, diverse coral reefs and massive sea turtles living peaceful lives in their native Hawaiian habitat. These two beaches offer miles of golden sand, tranquillity and tropical warmth, making them a treasure for both locals and visitors alike.
