General information

Destination
Hammamet, Tunisia

Program details

Discover Takrouna, the berber village, built on a high rock 200 meters above sea level overlooking the surrounding plain, overlooking the Gulf of Hammamet, Sousse Hergla and east, Jebel Zaghouan north and south plain of Kairouan.

The origin village is Berber and its current name is probably related to a tribe that migrated to Andalusia in the eighth century and given its name, Ta Kurunna in a mountainous region around Malaga. Following the expulsion of the Moors in 1609, an immigrant family would settle in the village and gave it its name.

Until now, still six families of Berber origin live in Taktouna from agriculture, weaving Halfa and Berber carpets. Visit then, the typical village of Sidi JEDIDI, offering up a beautiful ridgeline, a beautiful landscape, and famous for its weekly market on Tuesday, and its thermal hammams...
