Program details

Dive into some of the most interesting pages of Mexico’s history and discover the places that are part of the legendary route followed by the insurgent army at the outbreak of Mexico’s Independence. This enlightening tour will not only take you to see a series of beautiful landscapes and fascinating landmarks, it will also be an educational experience with which you will learn a lot more about the amazing feats that occurred in this land over the centuries.

The tour includes an incursion into the Hidalgo’s Museum, a very interesting site dedicated to the memory of the famous Creole priest Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. You will also be able to set eyes upon the parish of Our Lady of Sorrows, where the independence movement began to start moving on September 15, 1810.

Another amazing sight is the temple of Jesus of Nazareth, located in the charming Atotonilco village. It was in this lovely sanctuary where Hidalgo took the Virgin of Guadalupe’s banner as the first flag of the insurgent army. Later on, in San Miguel de Allende, pay a visit to St Michael’s parish, a feat of neo-gothic architecture. Throughout the duration of the tour you will be invited to taste the many exotic flavours of ice cream for which this region is well known and learn about the area’s traditional ceramics in Dolores Hidalgo. After this trip you will be a lot familiar with both Mexico’s history and territory.
