Program details

Enjoy a scenic Christmas cruise on the River Main and experience a different perspective of Frankfurt. See the city’s many riverside sights and attractions, from historic churches to modern skyscrapers and as the day grows old, watch the lights switch on, giving a glittering festive air to the views from your window.

The historical importance to the city of the river is undeniable – its full, official name is Frankfurt am Main (on the Main) and many of the most important buildings and locations face on to the river, which confluences with the Rhine some 40km downstream.

See the Literatuhaus by the Flosserbrucke, which is located in a pristine white neo-classical palace that was rebuilt after the war. On south bank, have a glance at the district of Sachsenhausen, famous for the vibrant nightlife of its beer cellars. Then observe two towering symbols of old Frankfurt, the rebuilt St Bartholomew’s Cathedral and the Epiphany Church, and one that has become an emblem of the new city, the 88 metre-tall Main Plaza, a truly eye-catching art deco revival skyscraper that surprisingly dates from the beginning of this century.

Pass the Eiserner Steg and behold the dazzling skyline of the modern Mainhattan, as the locals call this area. See futuristic skyscrapers such as the Westhafen Tower and maybe catch a glimpse of the Eurotower, the headquarters of the European Central Bank. The cruiser was built in 2006 and is a comfortable ship with high-end furnishings, spacious deck, bar and much more.

Meeting/pick-up point: Mainkai 37, Eisener Steg.
Duration: One hour.
Start/opening time: 1.30pm, 3pm, and 4.30pm.
