Program details

Combine wine and olive oil tastings in the Les-Baux-de-Provence valley with a historic tour of the Roman and medieval heritages of Nimes, Pont du Gard and Uzes. Admire medieval Les-Baux-de-Provence, considered one of the most beautiful villages in France. Sample the locally produced olive oil at a mill in the Les Baux valley, one of the most beautiful landscapes of olive groves in Provence, where olive oil, cracked olives and black olives are entitled to their own AOC label. The unusual feature of this olive oil is that it is made from a blend of several varieties of olives. It is the subtle blend of these varieties, a secret jealously guarded by each producer that gives the oils a whole palette of different flavours. Then relax with a wine-tasting tour of an estate at the foot of the Alpilles mountains. The wines of Les Baux are defined by the unique, multi-faceted character of the soil, naturally protected and dried by the mistral wind. Les-Baux-de-Provence wines have been officially recognised since 1995 as having ‘Registered Designation of Origin’, or Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in French.

Explore Nimes and see Augustus's gate, the amphitheatre (entrance ticket and audio guide included) and the Maison Carrée, one of the best-preserved temples in the Roman world. Visit the wonderful town of Uzes, the first duchy in France, set in the Garrigues countryside. As the seat of a duke, bishop and consul, Uzes has preserved its lay-out as a medieval stronghold, embellished in the 17th and 18th centuries. See the picturesque Place aux Herbes and the episcopal and ducal palaces. Admire the Fenestrelle bell tower and Saint-Théodorit Cathedral. Admire the Pont du Gard, one of the best-preserved Roman aqueducts in the world. Standing 50 metres tall over the River Gardon, this Unesco World Heritage Site has withstood the ravages of time for almost 2,000 years.
